Kansas City-based jazz group, The Michael Shults Quartet, will perform Thursday evening, July 30th, from 7-9pm, at Solid Grounds Coffee House in Littleton. The quartet has graciously agreed to donate thirty percent of the cover to the Mrs. Colorado Foundation.

The group includes saxophonist Michael Shults, recently noted by the Kansas City Star as, “making a strong impression” on the Kansas City jazz scene. He is a protégé of internationally-acclaimed Bobby Watson, and has played professionally with New Jazz Order, The Moon City Big Band, The New Vintage Big Band, and The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra.

Also featured: trumpeter Hermon Mahari (winner of the 2008 National Trumpet Competition), bassist Ben Leifer (selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program), and drummer Brian Steever (appearances include Tridimensional and the Hennessy Brothers).

There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door. For address and contact information, please visit www.solidgrounds.org.
