Cara Warren, 2009 Scholarship Recipient

2nd year masters student in the Special Education program at the University of Colorado – Denver.

Our 2009 scholarship winner, Cara Warren, was raised in Dallas, Texas. She wanted to be a teacher her entire life and received a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in reading from Texas A&M. Just after graduation, she met her husband, David. They were married in 1999, the same year they moved to Denver. They have a precious little boy named Jack who is 3 ½ years old. As a family, they enjoy watching movies, taking bike rides, and reading books.

Our 2009 scholarship winner has been described by her professors as, “genuine, professional, and consistently examining how she can foster success for both herself and her students in the classroom.” Her passion for teaching reading and working with struggling readers is what led her to go back to school and continue her own education.

Cara was awarded the 2nd annual Mrs. Colorado Foundation Spring Scholarship in the amount of one-thousand dollars. Cara was also awarded the 1st annual Mrs. Colorado Foundation Fall Scholarship in the amount of five-hundred dollars.
